Govt forms committee for NRB governor recommendation; sacks NEA MD Ghising

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a recommendation committee to appoint the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

During a Cabinet meeting on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel was appointed to lead the committee tasked with proposing a candidate for the NRB Governor position. Former Governor Bijaya Nath Bhattarai and economist Biswo Nath Poudel are members of the committee.

Additionally, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will lead a delegation to the sixth BIMSTEC Summit, scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from April 1 to 5. The delegation includes the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Arzu Rana Deuba, according to Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

Meanwhile, Minister for Land Reform, Co-operative and Poverty Alleviation, Bala Ram Adhikari, stated in The Rising Nepal that the Cabinet meeting had removed Kul Man Ghising from his role as Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and appointed Hitendra Dev Shakya as the new Executive Director of the NEA.
