Sichuan-Nepal Trade Exchange Month begins

KATHMANDU: The Sichuan Series of Celebrations on China-Nepal 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations &Opening Ceremony of the Sichuan-Nepal Culture, Tourism, Economy and Trade Exchange Month, officially began with an inaugural event in Chengdu, China.

The event, held on Friday, was a joint effort by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Sichuan Provincial Government and the Consulate General of Nepal in Chengdu.

During the ceremony, Zhang Tao, Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province, underscored the recent advancements in connectivity between Sichuan and Nepal, while emphasising the growing momentum in socio-cultural exchanges over the past year.

Nepal's Ambassador to China, Krishna Prasad Oli, reflected on the deep historical ties shared by the two nations, while also highlighting the strong bonds between their peoples.

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi expressed confidence in Nepal’s readiness to welcome Chinese tourists, promising them memorable experiences in every corner of the country.

The Consul General of Nepal confirmed the Consulate’s dedication to promoting and facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between Sichuan and Nepal.

The event showcased captivating performances by Chinese artists and the Himali Cultural Group, who travelled to Chengdu specifically for the Sichuan-Nepal Culture, Tourism, Economy, and Trade Exchange Month.

Additionally, Nepali exhibitors displayed a variety of local products during the event. Over the course of the month-long celebration, similar exhibitions and cultural exchange programmes will take place across several cities in Sichuan Province. According to the Consulate General of Nepal in Chengdu, the Sichuan Series aims to foster enhanced cultural, trade, economic, and people-to-people exchanges between Nepal and Sichuan.
