KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Industries and Entrepreneurs (FENIE) has expressed serious concern over incidents of vandalism, arson targeting private homes and commercial buildings, attacks on media houses, and the looting of property belonging to industrialists, businesspersons, and ordinary citizens during protests in Kathmandu on Friday.
In a press statement, FENIE stated that the attacks on Nepal’s industrialists and business community aim to destabilise the economy by destroying financial institutions, economically weakening individuals, and provoking aggression to push the nation backward. It accused individuals claiming to be monarchists of orchestrating the criminal acts with regressive motives.
The organisation strongly condemned the violence and urged stakeholders to ensure a safe and transparent environment for industrialists and businesspersons. It called for vigilance to protect the lives and property of the business community and the public.
FENIE demanded that the government bring the perpetrators of Friday’s violence to justice and take effective steps to maintain peace and security. It also urged citizens to work collectively to protect and strengthen the republic.
