KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said the government will prioritise presenting an implementable and realistic budget for the fiscal year 2025/26.
Speaking during a discussion with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security ahead of the budget estimates for the upcoming fiscal year, Finance Minister Paudel stressed the importance of developing realistic and actionable plans and programmes, rather than focusing on distributive measures. Minister Paudel also called for a comprehensive review of social security programmes and emphasised the need to integrate similar initiatives across various ministries and agencies.
Meanwhile, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari underscored the significance of leveraging the skills of migrant returnees and prioritising domestic employment. The Prime Minister’s Employment Programme was also reviewed during the meeting.
