BANGKOK: Prime Minister of Thailand, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, has said that Thailand will increase its investment and participation in Nepal’s aviation and tourism sectors.
The Thai Premier made the statement during a joint press conference following her meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is on an official visit to Thailand.
She stated that Thailand is positive about increasing the frequency of Thai Airways flights to Kathmandu and introducing direct flights to Lumbini.
Prime Minister Shinawatra expressed her belief that Thailand's investments and trade in Nepal would prioritise the energy and tourism sectors, with a focus on hotels and aviation in the future.
She described the visit of the Nepali Prime Minister as historic, marking the first visit by a Head of Government from Nepal since the establishment of diplomatic relations 65 years ago. She added that the discussions also focused on improving connectivity and strengthening trade partnerships between the two countries.
