Nepal, Thailand sign 8 MoUs during PM Oli's Visit

BANGKOK: Nepal and Thailand signed eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs) today during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's official visit to Thailand. Two MoUs were signed at the government level, while six were signed by non-government entities.

Prior to the signing, Prime Minister Oli and Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra held a bilateral meeting. The discussions covered political and bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation, aviation, tourism, cultural, and development sectors. Regional and multisectoral issues were also addressed.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, and Thailand's Minister for Culture, Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, signed an MoU to promote cultural cooperation. Another MoU on tourism cooperation was signed by Minister Rana and Thailand's Minister for Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong.

The remaining MoUs were signed by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Mahidol University, Janata Agro and Forestry (JFL) and Kasetsart University, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Board of Trade of Thailand, and Kathmandu University and Siam University. These agreements aim to strengthen bilateral relations in their respective sectors.

Additionally, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), as well as the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Council of Thailand, signed MoUs focusing on non-government collaborations.
