NCC signs MoU with TCT to boost trade, tourism

KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in trade, tourism, and civil aviation. 

The agreement was formalised in Bangkok in the presence of Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. The MoU was signed by NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and TCT President Chai Arunanondchai.

According to a statement by the NCC, the MoU aims to promote tourism between Nepal and Thailand, enhance civil aviation, and foster cultural exchange across different sectors in Nepal.

The collaboration involves efforts to identify and promote tourism opportunities in both countries. Joint initiatives will include market promotion campaigns, partnerships in civil aviation, cultural heritage exchange programmes, trade and investment promotion, and capacity-building projects.

The statement also mentioned the formation of a joint taskforce to implement the agreement’s objectives. NCC President Agrawal highlighted the significance of the MoU in strengthening tourism activities, particularly at Nepal’s Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport.

Prime Minister Oli’s delegation to Bangkok included representatives from private sector, such as NCC President Agrawal, Chairperson of the Advisory Council Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, Senior Vice President Deepak Kumar Malhotra, and Arjun Prasad Sharma, Chairman of the International Promotion Committee.
