BANGKOK: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, currently on a five-day official visit to Thailand that commenced on  April 1, delivered a speech at an event hosted by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) today.

In his address, Prime Minister Oli stressed the importance of collective efforts to ensure a secure and prosperous future for humanity. He highlighted the Government of Nepal’s focus on promoting human happiness, prosperity, security, and self-dignity.

Referring to the government’s motto, "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali," the Prime Minister stated that achieving human happiness through the fulfilment of aspirations is the greatest accomplishment. He also called for collaborative efforts at national, regional, and global levels to address climate change, a shared global concern.

The event was attended by teachers and students from Nepal at AIT. Prime Minister Oli expressed hope that AIT graduates would contribute significantly to Nepal’s development, particularly in sectors such as hydropower.

Nepal’s ambassador to Thailand, Dhan Bahadur Oli, noted that Nepali students constitute the fourth largest group of international students at AIT. He added that cooperation with AIT is a priority for the Embassy.

Currently, 181 Nepali students are enrolled at AIT, and 1,795 Nepali students have graduated from the institute to date. Seven Nepali faculty members, including three members of the Board of Trustees, serve at AIT.
