
MAKAWANPUR: The state-owned Hetauda Cement Factory resumed cement production today after nearly five months of inactivity.
Production was halted due to a shortage of electricity but has now resumed following the restoration of power supply.
Officiating General Manager Nabin Kumar Karna stated that the factory requires eight megawatts of electricity daily to crush limestone. He added that 1,900 metric tonnes of coal are currently in stock, and preparations are underway to procure approximately 4,000 metric tonnes of coal in the second phase through a bidding process.
The factory, located in Lamsure, Hetauda, was established in 2033 BS and inaugurated a decade later in 2043 BS with an investment of Rs 1.5 billion.
The facility currently employs 195 staff across administrative, trade, accounts, store, technical, and labour units. Although the factory has a production capacity of 18,000 sacks of cement daily, it is currently producing 12,000 sacks per day.
