KATHMANDU: Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights, a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, has extended financial assistance to Cancer Care Nepal (CCN), an organisation supporting underprivileged cancer patients with their treatment.
Deshbandhu Basnet, proprietor of Mercure Kathmandu, handed over a cheque of Rs 500,000 to actress Manisha Koirala, honorary chairperson of CCN, during a programme held on Monday to launch Zaiqa, a new restaurant specialising in authentic Indian cuisine.
During the event, actress Koirala expressed her gratitude to the hotel for its support, emphasising that the contribution would be vital and meaningful for cancer patients. She stated that she hopes for long-term collaboration between the hotel and the organisation.
“Cancer Care Nepal has been supporting cancer patients who are financially weak. This support from Sukedhara Heights has helped and encouraged them in the fight against cancer in the coming days,” Koirala said.
Basnet remarked that Mercure Kathmandu is pleased to provide financial support through Cancer Care Nepal to those in need. He also shared plans to collaborate further with the organisation in the future to support cancer victims.
Dr Madan Kumar Piya, Chairperson of CCN, noted that the organisation has been providing free treatment to cancer patients unable to afford medical expenses for an extended period.
