BIMSTEC agriculture minister-level meet in Kathmandu today

KATHMANDU: The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Agriculture Ministers-level meeting is set to take place in Kathmandu today.

Agriculture Ministers from the member states are arriving in Kathmandu to participate in the meeting.

Earlier, a secretary-level meeting was held in Kathmandu, according to the secretariat of the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari. The meeting was attended by secretaries from ministries related to agriculture.

It has been stated that the secretary-level meeting prepared the agenda for the Ministers-level meeting.

Agriculture Ministers from three out of the seven BIMSTEC member states will participate in person, while Ministers from the remaining countries will join the meeting virtually, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) of Nepal.

Minister Adhikari is scheduled to preside over the Ministers-level meeting today. Agriculture Ministers of India and Bhutan arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday to attend the meeting.

The meeting will focus on the status and challenges of agriculture, along with collaboration among the member countries, MoALD sources confirmed.
