KATHMANDU: With the arrival of summer-autumn flight season in 2025, China Southern Airlines has optimised its flight schedule starting from April 10, increasing capacity on the China-Nepal route and strengthening economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation between the two countries, the airline announced in a press statement today.
As part of the revised schedule, China Southern Airlines will resume its night flight from Kathmandu to Guangzhou between April and October. The planned departure time from Kathmandu is 11:30 pm, with one flight per day. Additionally, the daytime flight schedule has been adjusted, pushing the departure time back by 50 minutes to 12:50 pm, enabling smoother connections and providing passengers with greater convenience in organising their schedules.
The frequency of daytime flights will vary during the season. Between April 10 and May, daytime flights will operate four times a week on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. From June to August, daytime flights will reduce to two flights per week on Sunday and Thursday. From September to October, daytime flights will return to daily operations.
The airline has significantly increased the number of seats for the season. Approximately 45,000 seats will be available from Kathmandu to Guangzhou, and over 46,000 seats from Guangzhou to Kathmandu. Compared to the same period last year, this marks an increase of more than 6,000 seats, reflecting a growth of 16.5% on the Kathmandu-to-Guangzhou route. Meanwhile, there is an increase of over 13,000 seats, showing growth of 39.9% on the Guangzhou-to-Kathmandu route. The adjustments aim to provide passengers with more travel options while promoting economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and Nepal.
The expansion of transport capacity coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal and the celebration of the "China-Nepal Tourism Year."
