KATHMANDU: The third edition of Buddhist International Travel Mart is scheduled to take place from May 24 to 26.

Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) is set to organise the event to promote tourism. According to NATTA officials, the inaugural ceremony, along with an international conference and exhibition, will take place in Kathmandu on May 24–25. Likewise, the Business-to-Business (B-2-B) session, farm trip, networking dinner, and closing ceremony are scheduled for May 26 in Lumbini.

The event is expected to feature approximately 150 international hosted buyers and over 60 national and international sellers interested in Buddhist tourism. More than 1,100 visitors from major Buddhist countries, including India, China, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, are anticipated to attend.

Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), expressed confidence that the mart will contribute to the development of Nepal's international Buddhist pilgrimage tourism sector.

NATTA stated that the mart presents a historic opportunity to promote religious tourism, particularly Nepal's Buddhist heritage.
