
KATHMANDU: National Planning Commission (NPC) has submitted its report to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) after discussions on policies and programmes for the preparation of the upcoming fiscal year's budget.
NPC Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Shivaraj Adhikari handed over the report to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel at the Ministry, on Sunday.
As per the Economic Procedure and Fiscal Responsibility Act, the NPC is mandated to submit the report to the Finance Minister following policy and programme discussions with ministries, commissions, and government agencies regarding the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
On the occasion, Minister Paudel stated that overall economic indicators are gradually improving due to recent policy, legal, and structural reforms.
He further mentioned that the economy is on an upward trajectory and that the upcoming budget will focus on building a strong and sustainable economy.
Likewise, NPC Vice-Chairman Adhikari stated that the report was prepared to assist in the budget preparation process. He emphasised that projects should be prioritised and reprioritised based on budget availability while remaining within budgetary limits.
