KATHMANDU: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a bilateral meeting on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Minister Bhandari, on behalf of the Ministry, raised issues related to Nepali workers in the UAE. A pilot project aimed at creating demand for Nepali women workers in the UAE as domestic help was also discussed, according to Minister Bhandari's private secretariat.

Minister Bhandari requested scholarships for Nepali students studying in the UAE and sought necessary training, equipment, and physical infrastructure for the establishment of a training centre to produce skilled human resources.

Further, he urged the UAE government to reduce charges imposed on Nepali workers for sending money to Nepal. The Labour Minister further requested UAE companies to invest under corporate social responsibility to develop the education and health sectors for Nepali workers.
