KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Panta, has invited the Confederation of Nepalese Teachers (CNT) for discussions.
The invitation was extended to the agitating CNT National Committee through a letter sent on behalf of the government earlier today.
Minister Panta urged the teachers to engage in talks at the earliest opportunity to collectively find a solution through continuous dialogue and discussions, as has been the practice in the past.
He stated that the draft of School Education Bill had been prepared following thorough discussions and consultations with representatives of the teaching community. He acknowledged that it was natural for school teachers and staff to express concerns and hold expectations regarding the timely issuance of the bill.
The Education Minister appealed for a resolution through dialogue, emphasising that there are specific legislative and legal processes required for the School Education Bill to be presented in Parliament, debated, and ultimately approved.
He further mentioned that the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, had consistently endeavoured to find appropriate ways to safeguard the rights of teachers by fostering an environment conducive to the timely passage of the School Education Bill.
Teachers from across the country have been staging protests under the leadership of the CNT since April 2, pressing for the fulfilment of their various demands.
