KATHMANDU: Toastmasters in Nepal will host the fourth annual conference and 'Citation 2022', in Kathmandu, on April 9. Around 450 members from corporations, professional organisations and other communities from all over Nepal are expected to attend the conference to be held at Aloft Kathmandu, Thamel, on Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. The key highlight will be the showcase of the humorous speech contest where representatives from three divisions — Division A, Division N and Division O — in Nepal will present how humorous speeches are given. Every year, a non-toastmaster is honoured for his/her communication and leadership contributions. ‘The Communicator Award’ will be announced during the event. In the last physical citation in 2019, Krishna Tamrakar, a renowned radio personality from Radio Nepal was honoured with the award. The event will also be peppered with lighter sessions where toastmasters will showcase their music and cultural talents. Kathmandu Toastmasters Club was established in 1991. Until 2017, there were only eight toastmaster clubs including the first corporate club — Laxmi Bank Toastmasters Club. Thereafter, being part of District 41, there has been a proliferation of clubs in the last couple of years. Currently, there are 52 clubs and over 1,300 members from banks, academic institutions, tourism entrepreneurs, chartered accountants, educators, women, entrepreneurs, and other professionals. District Director of District 41, Ranjit Acharya, DTM said, "Nepal is leading District 41 Toastmasters for the first time and Citation 2022 will be looked upon by members from across the district in North and East India, and Bangladesh. This will help to bring the Nepali toastmasters closer as one, empowering each other." Club Growth Director of District 41, Suman Shakya, DTM is proud to showcase the growth of members and clubs in Nepal and District 41. “Citation 2022 will be an opportunity for the members of Toastmasters not only in Kathmandu but in Pokhara, Chitwan, Birgunj, Butwal, Bhairahawa, Dharan and Jhapa to come together in the largest gathering of toastmasters in Nepal to learn, network and help each other become a better version of themselves.” Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation that enhances public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, USA, the organisation's membership exceeds 300,000 in more than 15,800 clubs in 149 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds to become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders. READ ALSO:
