Calibration flights to be conducted at GBIA from Feb 18-27

KATHMANDU: Calibration flights will be conducted at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) for 10 days from Friday, according to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Deputy Director of National Pride Project, Pravin Neupane, told Business 360 that preparations have been completed to conduct calibration flights scheduled to take place from February 18 to 27 at Gautam Buddha International Airport. This task may complete one or two days before the scheduled period of time. According to Neupane, CAAN has given permission to the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd (AEROTHAI) to conduct the calibration flights at the international airport in Lumbini province. AEROTHAI is a state enterprise under the Ministry of Transport of the Government of Thailand. It was founded in 1948 by airlines with the consent of the Royal Thai Government to provide air traffic control and aeronautical communication services for airline operations. Meanwhile, the work related to the construction and arrangement of equipment at the airport has been completed, said Neupane. AEROTHAI will submit a report after conducting the test flight, he said and added, following the report, the commercial flights to and from the airport will be started 56 days after Director General at CAAN approves the permission in this regard.
