Banke’s Ganapur turning into industrial hub

A A- A+
RANJHA: Ganapur of Janaki Rural Municipality in Banke district is fast developing into an industrial town. As many as 63 factories have been established at Ganapur, Janaki-6, in recent years. Ganapur is gradually turning into an industrial area whereas only 30 factories are in operation in Nepalgunj Industrial Zone. Cement, iron, food, brick, herbal, resin and pharmaceutical among other big factories that are of significance for domestic consumption and export have been established at Ganapur. The rural municipality's officiating chairperson Bhumisara Dhital said new factories are coming up in the recent period. She said the rural municipality has a plan of developing Ganapur as an industrial zone through the adoption of industry-friendly policy. "There is a lack of land for setting up big factories within Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City. Even if one gets the land, it is very expensive over there. But, here in Janaki rural municipality, which is adjacent to the sub-metropolis and the highway, the land is comparatively cheaper and adequate," she said. Ganapur is adjacent to the Nepalgunj–Kohalpur road section. Factories have been set up in line alongside the road leading westward from Ganapur. The rural municipality has paid attention to the construction of infrastructures including approach roads and other facilities in view of the industries operating in the area. The Ambe Group has recently operated a modern Jaya Ambe Steel Industry with a capacity of producing 700 metric tonnes of iron rods daily at Janaki-5. Janaki rural municipality’s ward 5 chairperson, Suresh Ahir, said out of the 63 factories in Ganapur, six are closed presently while five new factories are about to come into operation. The rest of the factories are in operation. By RSS/AP READ AlSO:
