Government starts administering booster dose vaccines to senior citizens

KATHMANDU: The government has started administering booster dose vaccines against coronavirus to senior citizens aged above 60 years. Assistant Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, shared that the ministry has begun inoculating booster doses to the senior citizen above 60 who have completed six months after receiving double doses against the coronavirus. A ministerial meeting chaired by Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada on Friday decided to send a letter to the district health offices of all 77 districts to administer vaccination service. The senior citizens are being vaccinated based on the recent recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s Strategic Advisory Group of Expert on Immunisation and National Vaccination Advisory Committee. The ministry has sent a letter to the district offices to administer Covishield or AstraZeneca vaccines to those who were already inoculated with the full dose of Covishield or AstraZeneca or Moderna or Pfizer or Vero Cell and provide Covishield or AstraZeneca to those who have yet to get inoculated the second dose.
