56 flights a week to be operated between Nepal, India

KATHMANDU: India has agreed to add more flights to Nepal under the air bubble agreement. Air travel bubbles are temporary arrangements between two countries aimed at restarting commercial passenger services when regular international flights are suspended due to the Covid 19 pandemic. At present, national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has been operating seven flights a week to India under the air bubble agreement while Air India has also been operating the same number of flights a week to Nepal, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Deputy Director General of CAAN, Deo Chandra Lal Karn, told Business 360 that the Government of India agreed to add more flights after Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale appealed to his Indian counterpart Jyotiraditya Scindia to add more flights citing the difficulties being faced by passengers of both the countries owing to the limited number of flights. Karn informed that two other Indian airlines — IndiGo and Vistara — will also operate flights to Nepal from February 15. IndiGo will operate 14 flights a week and Vistara seven flights a week while Air India will continue with seven flights. Meanwhile, NAC will operate 28 flights a week to various destinations in India. So there will be 56 flights in total between the two neighbours in a week, Karn said. Nepal and India entered into Air Bubble Agreement in December 2020. READ ALSO:
