Fire victims will get relief, be rehabilitated: Karnali Province Chief Minister Shahi

KARNALI: Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, has said that relief will be provided to the victims of fire incidents that took place in Mugu district, on Monday night, and they will be rehabilitated. Issuing a press release today, CM Shahi shared that attention of the Karnali provincial government has been drawn towards the fire incident at Gamgadhi bazaar in Chhayanath Municipality-1. The fire that started at midnight was brought under control after four-hour efforts of security personnel including the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and locals. Property worth a billion rupees was gutted in the incident. Twenty houses were completely damaged in the fire. Expressing gratitude towards security personnel and locals for helping douse the fire, Chief Minister Shahi said that local administration has been already directed to make arrangements of short-term relief, as well as relief package, will be announced immediately on the basis of details of the damages as the local administration has already started collecting details of the damages, reads the statement. Photo: RSS[/caption] The inferno destroyed the houses of Thille Lama, Ratan Bahadur Shahi, Jan Bahadur Hitan, Dan Bahadur Hitan, Janak Bahadur Malla, Jhomba Lama, Angal Lama, Dambar Malla, Torche Lama, Guru Lama, Tashi Lama, Prithvi Jung Shah, Chhatra Bahadur Malla, Shakuntala Shahi, Bishal Malla, Laxmi Shahi, Putali Shahi, Kushalal Sawat, Goma Malla and Tshering Lama. Although the houses have been burnt to ashes, no human casualties have been reported in the incident, the District Police Office said. Police said goods and property worth millions belonging to those living in rent and running shops at these houses have been destroyed in the disaster. Currently, the security personnel have been collecting information from the house owners and shopkeepers regarding the extent of losses. It is said the fire has destroyed goods and properties worth a hundred million factoring in the current price of houses and the goods in the shops. The property damage has been estimated at around Rs 1 billion, Deputy Superintendent at the District Police Office, Chitra Bhattarai, said.
