KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has started free bus service for the passengers of domestic flights at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
The bus service has been launched to facilitate the passengers entering or exiting the domestic terminal building. The free bus service will commence from the Golden Gate at the entrance of the TIA to the domestic terminal building.
There are currently two microbuses offering the service. Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale inaugurated the service for the convenience of the passengers on November 8.
Minister Ale also instructed to build infrastructures at the Golden Gate and Internal Terminal Building to ease the passengers. The passengers had complained that the taxis were charging the passenger at the Airport exorbitantly.
CAAN's Director General Raj Kumar Chettri shared that three buses will be bringing in passengers to the internal terminal building while another three buses will offer free service to the passengers from the building to the Golden Gate.
The new service is aimed at facilitating those passengers compelled to walk all the way to the Golden Gate with luggage and those with kids since they would not opt for high taxi fares.
CAAN, heeding to the grievances of the passengers, prompted into action, said Director General Chettri. Now onwards, the passengers could avail themselves of any mode of transportation for their destination from the Golden Gate once they come out of the domestic terminal building and board the newly launched bus services till Golden Gate.
