Ford Nepal holds ‘Off to Nuwakot’ 4×4 event to promote domestic tourism, off-roading culture
KATHMANDU: Ford Nepal (GO Automobiles Pvt Ltd) last week organised an “Off to Nuwakot” 4x4 event under its customer engagement programme to promote domestic tourism and develop off-roading culture in the country. The one-day family event held on November 1 was a short getaway from Kathmandu valley to the ancient and historic Nuwakot district. The rally was held via the Tokha-Shivapuri route that passes through forest areas and scenic vegetation along with ancient cultural villages in the midst of the drive. Around 40 participants FORD made its way to the historic lands of Nuwakot with several activities in between such as jungle excursion, zip line and sightseeing. The event came to an end after visiting Nuwa Estate Farm which promotes sustainable coffee farming in Nuwakot. The event was a part of customer engagement programme focusing on the demonstration of 4x4 ranges lifestyle trucks of FORD. The idea of 'Off to Nuwakot' was to emphasise the culture of exploration and travel along with the demonstration of FORD lifestyle Trucks which are must-have drives in the garage for the expedition purpose. According to Ford Nepal representative, the idea of 4x4 event came along with market development and promotion of FORD adventure vehicles — FORD RANGER, FORD RANGER RAPTOR and new line up FORD EVEREST. All these capable ranges are from Thailand and are known for their performance and capabilities.

While the interior of the durbar suffered some damage during the recent earthquake on April 25, 2015, the buildings are still intact and a tour of the premises is still possible. Reconstruction efforts are underway to conserve the heritage site that played a pivotal role in shaping the history of modern Nepal. The durbar is still an undiscovered treasure, despite its historical and cultural significance. The seven-storey palace-fortress was built during the reign of Prithvi Narayan Shah in the 18th century. It shows little evidence of the attacks by Malla and later Chinese forces. Ford Nepal conducts expeditions every year as a part of its adventure event. Previously, Ford Nepal has held successful events such as Drive to Manang, Drive to Lomanthang and Mustang Adventures which are benchmarks for adventure events in Nepal. Nepal is a country with diverse terrain and landscapes and the most preferable destination for international tourists.
