36 per cent increase in enrolments of Nepali students in foreign universities: Study Group

KATHMANDU: With international borders starting to reopen across the world, there has been a significant increase in the number of Nepali students enrolling on courses in universities and colleges abroad. Study Group, a leading international education provider, has witnessed an increase of students enrolling by 36 per cent since 2020. Australia tops the list as a preferred destination followed by the USA, UK, and Europe, according to the Study Group. Studying abroad is an aspiration for many students from Nepal who are fond of experiencing the international lifestyle, exploring the vast job opportunities after completing their courses and are willing to settle abroad. Since last year, 55 per cent of Nepali students applied to their favourite universities in North America, 45 per cent in the UK while 10 per cent have opted for Australia as their preferred destination, according to the Study Group.  A majority of these students are from Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
