Kathmandu: The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has rescued four climbers and a Nepali guide who were stranded while returning from Mera Peak (6,470 metres) in Solukhumbu.
The rescued four foreign mountaineers and Nepali guide have been brought to Kathmandu.
Issuing a press release on October 21, NMA chair Santa Bir Lama informed that four foreign climbers and the Nepali guide were trapped on the way back after scaling the peak. He said the rescue was carried out at the initiative of the expedition organising company. They were trapped due to adverse weather and heavy snowfall.
They had embarked on an expedition via Makalu Adventure Pvt Ltd by receiving the permit from NMA.
Meanwhile, the rescued ones have been receiving treatment at Grande Hospital, Kathmandu.
Likewise, a team mobilised on foot also rescued the members of the Sherpa Events Organisers and took them to safety at Lukla. However, a member from the Adventure Victory Team, Chheten Sherpa, who was on the climbing expedition, has gone out of contact for three days, the statement issued on Thursday stated.
Meanwhile, the NMA has intensified the search for Sherpa in coordination with the organiser company, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Department of Tourism, Solukhumbu District Administration Office, Nepal Police and Nepali Army, the NMA stated.
Moreover, a team led by group leader Nuru Sherpa and climbing guide Kami Sherpa mobilised on foot have also intensified the search.
