KATHMANDU: A report on digital transactions between Nepal and India has been submitted to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari. A team from the Economic Media Association Nepal (EMAN) prepared the report after conducting studies in various Indian cities including the capital New Delhi for two weeks. The association handed over the report to the Governor on Sunday amid a programme organised at NRB, informed EMAN President Royal Acharya. Receiving the report, Governor Adhikari extended thankfulness to the EMAN for conducting the study on cross-country digital transactions, which he believed, would further facilitate the Indian tourists visiting Nepal. "There is the issue of payment for the Indian tourists visiting Nepal. Moreover, Nepalis going to India for study and for pilgrimage face difficulties," said Governor Adhikari, adding that the cross-country digital transaction will aid in making payment easier. He pledged to do more homework for this to materialise and said that the report prepared by EMAN will be useful to the central bank. Meanwhile, EMAN also handed over the report to Sunil KC, President of the Nepal Bankers' Association today itself. It may be noted that Nepal and India recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cross-border digital payment which is expected to facilitate people of both countries for digital transactions.
