Prashansha KC, an enthusiastic YouTuber, film maker, social activist and poetess, was recognised with the Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2018 award on 1 September by Gokarna Bista, Mister of Labour, Employment and Social Security. In September 2017, she, on behalf of World Experience Foundation, initiated a project to spread awareness about kidnapping and child marriage. She created a documentary about this campaign with the purpose of educating, making aware and encouraging viewers to make changes in society. She is now planning and designing a project called ‘A Word a Step Ahead’.
The competition had received over 532 applications, from teenagers demonstrating their diverse potential. The applicants had demonstrated their skills and expertise creating an impact in society from different areas of interest: social work, journalism, mobile app development, computer programming, robotics, entrepreneurship and community development among others.
Glocal Teen Hero is a national platform in Nepal to recognise and honour outstanding teenagers.
