Startup Weekend: Women, Girls and SDGs

With a view to promote entrepreneurship among women in the country, Nepal Entrepreneurs Hub (NEHUB) in collaboration with World Vision’s Nepal Innovation Lab organised the 12th iteration of Startup Weekend titled Startup Weekend Women, Girls and SDGs. The finale took place on February 18 at Alliance Francaise Kathmandu. The event aimed to provide a platform to female innovators that have targeted solutions for humanitarian and development challenges in the sectors of any of the 17 SDGs set by the United Nations. The startup weekend is an intensive three-day mentoring program designed for startups. Surrounded by smart, passionate people and with the best tools and approaches at disposal, taking giant leaps toward creating a business, becoming a founder and connecting with the right people and resources become possible. The startup includes specialised talks where ideas are polished, pivoted with the help of mentors and team members. The third day sees a final pitching session where top teams are selected. This year, the top 10 ideas and participants were Saksham by Sneha Shakya, Biopad by Bivustiti Thapa, Bishwasilo by Shreya Bogati, Help Desk by Neesha Shrestha, Nanny for Your Nani by Aishworya Pradhan, Rachana by Rakshya Chand, Krishi ma Mahila by Uma Subedi, Spark by Saikshya Aryal, Avocado by Shreeya Sharma, Flower Power by Priyanka Bhandari.
