KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said the private sector will cooperate to utilise the potential of electric power.
Addressing a session of Power Summit 2023, FNCCI President Dhakal said there has been a vast array of potential for electric energy in the country, and added investment climate has also witnessed an improvement of late.
On the occasion, he urged hydropower investors to increase their investment citing that there has been great potential for energy production including hydropower in the country.
“The government facilitates investment through its policies and priorities. We have the world’s big economies as our neighbours. Bringing investments to Nepal to address increasing demand and market has a big scope. The private sector is ready to facilitate and cooperate with the government in this regard,” he said.
Stating that Nepal exported hydropower worth Rs 11 billion to India last year, he informed that the government was in talks with Bangladesh to export energy. He also asked the government and other stakeholders to facilitate and create an environment conducive to investments.
