Nepal records Rs 794.32bn remittance inflows in 8 months of current FY

KATHMANDU: The remittance inflows increased 25.3% to Rs 794.32 billion in eight months of current fiscal year 2022/23, according to the macroeconomic and financial situation issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The remittance amount is against a decrease of 1.3% in the same period of the previous year. In US Dollar terms, remittance inflows increased 14.8% to 6.09 billion until mid-March against a decrease of 2.6% in the same period of the previous year. Likewise, the number of Nepali workers (institutional and individual-new) taking approval for foreign employment increased 54.3% to 351,761 during the eight months time.  The number of Nepali workers (Renew entry) taking approval for foreign employment increased 8.0% to 192,559 in eight months of the current FY. The number of workers taking approval had increased 240.9% in the same period of the previous year. The net transfer increased 23.9% to Rs 876.07 billion until mid-March in current FY.
