An evening with the happiest brain : Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

A A- A+
The Venerable Mingyur Rinpoche gave a talk in the capital on the Science of Happiness and an Introduction to Awareness Meditation amidst a gathering of more than 400 people representing diplomats, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, academicians, professionals, youth leaders and change makers organised by Media 9, publishers of Business 360. Born in Nepal, Mingyur Rinpoche comes from a lineage of vast learning and achievement in practice. His teachings weave together his own personal experiences with modern scientific research. Rinpoche has had a lifelong interest in Western science and psychology. Informal discussions at an early age with the famed neuroscientist Francisco Varela, who came to Nepal to learn meditation from Rinpoche’s father, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche eventually led him to the Waisman Laboratory for Brain Imaging and Behavior at the University of Wisconsin, where Richard Davidson, Antoine Lutz, and other scientists examined the effects of meditation on the brains of advanced meditators. When not attending to the monasteries under his care in India and Nepal, Rinpoche spends time each year traveling and teaching worldwide with centers on five continents. He has also authored several books including the best selling: The Joy of Living: Unlocking the Secret and Science of Happiness which has been translated into over 20 languages. The famed Matthieu Ricard, a writer and Buddhist monk, also recognized as the happiest brain introduced the research aspects of Rinpoche’s talk. Mingyur Rinpoche carries the rare ability of presenting ancient wisdom in a way that is simple, engaging and touched with compassion and humour. While many people struggle with questions and the quest for happiness, Mingyur Rinpoche had simple and engaging answers for every question asked of him.
