KATHMANDU: Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM), Women Entrepreneurs Committee and American Corner Biratnagar on Thursday organised an interaction programme related to financial literacy for women entrepreneurs and businesspersons.
At the programme, CIM President Suyesh Pyakurel said financial literacy helps in determining financial goals, managing capital, protecting one's property, and getting information about future risks, and urged women to benefit from the services provided by the financial sector. He appealed to the financial institutions to give priority to the financial literacy campaign to attract customers to the services and facilities they have been providing. He said the interaction will help them to understand the different dimensions of financial literacy and increase confidence in the financial system.
Pratibha Rijal, Coordinator of CIM Women Entrepreneurs Committee, said that the interaction was organised to enable women entrepreneurs so they could take appropriate decisions. She opined that the literacy campaign will act as a catalyst to increase the access of women entrepreneurs to the financial sector.
Banker Sharmila Homagain highlighted various issues including the setting of financial goals, utilisation of credit, taking precautions while spending, and risk-bearing capacity. She also informed about the arrangements made by financial institutions for the convenience of women entrepreneurs and urged them to set a financial goal and anticipate the ease and challenges before investing in any sector.
Banker Samir Shrestha urged women entrepreneurs to get used to the digital banking system and informed them about the services provided by financial institutions through digital banking.
Saru KC, Immediate Past President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI Koshi Province, urged women to convert their inherent skills into entrepreneurship development.
Members of CIM Women Entrepreneurs Committee, women entrepreneurs and businesspersons participated in the programme.
