PM Dahal leaves for Italy to attend UNFSS+2

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today left for Italy to attend the United Nations Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2). Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Purna Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha, ministers and high-ranking officials of the government bade farewell to the prime minister at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Likewise, CPN (Maoist Centre) General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung, vice-chairpersons Agni Sapkota and Pampha Bhusal and other leaders also saw off the prime minister at the airport. PM Dahal is scheduled to attend the United Nations Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) in Rome, the capital of Italy, from July 24 to 26, 2023. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Beduram Bhusal, National Planning Commission member Jay Kant Raut and other senior officials of the government are in the delegation. Photo: RSS[/caption] The prime minister will address the official opening session of UNFSS+2 on Monday in the capacity of the Chair of LDC Group, including the Plenary Sessions on the agenda of School Meals on July 24 and Food System Transformation in Practice on July 25. On the sidelines of the event, PM Dahal will hold bilateral meetings with high-level dignitaries of the UN system, including the Director General of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), and the President of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), among others. PM Dahal will also interact with the Nepali Diaspora in Italy. He will return home on July 28.

DPM Khadka designated acting PM President Ramchandra Paudel has designated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Purna Bahadur Khadka as the acting Prime Minister. The President on the recommendation of PM Dahal, accorded the responsibility to look after daily administrative affairs of the country as per the Constitution, to DPM Khadka, a press statement issued by the President's Office said.
