KATHMANDU: Dhruba Chandra Gautam, a famous novelist, has been honoured with the title 'Avishkari Akhyankar' on the occasion of his 80th birth anniversary.
Basant Chaudhary, Founder President of Lunkarandas-Gangadevi Chaudhary Sahityakala Mandir, presented a gift to Gautam while Megha Chaudhary, Chairperson of Basant Chaudhary Foundation (BCF) appreciated and congratulated him at a programme organised in Kamaladi, Kathmandu on Sunday.
On the occasion, Gautam's book edited by Khum Narayan Paudel was also launched. During the programme, senior artiste Harihar Sharma offered Novelist Gautam congratulations along with group signatures.
Founder President Basant offered Gautam a garland while Megha cut a cake to celebrate his 80th birthday.
Addressing the programme, Basant Chaudhary said Gautam is an initiator of novels that use radical experiments in the literature. "It is a historic opportunity for us to honour him with the title 'Avishkari Akhyankar'. Gautama is a talent 'born once in a lifetime," Chaudhary said and added his every work has spread light in the literature and ignited the entire Nepali literature.
He said that he got close to Gautam and that there was a long period of relationship between them. "The interaction with him gives me the feeling that I have met not only a writer with infinite potential but also a friendly person. He is equally active in creation even at this age," Chaudhary, who is also a poet and a lyricist, said, "This inspiration also gives me the energy to write."
Gautam's total 53 works include 32 novels. Chaudhary said novelist Gautam is a great ascetic of literature.
Likewise, Gautam expressed his happiness to be honoured with the title and praised the role played by Lunkarandas-Gangadevi Chaudhary Sahityakala Mandir in the upliftment and promotion of Nepali literature and art.
