PM Dahal’s commitment to transforming Tilganga Institute into university

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed his commitment to developing the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) into a university. Prime Minister Dahal expressed such commitment during a meeting with Director of TIO, Dr Sanduk Ruit. He said that he was positive about developing the institute into a university, and added necessary policy reforms will be taken in this regard. The Prime Minister also congratulated Dr Ruit for being honoured with the 'ISA Award for service to humanity' by the Government of Bahrain for his humanitarian services and said that this honour has made Nepal very proud. "This award has enhanced the respect of the country. It has given a message that Nepal has skilled human resources of international level," he said and added, "Recognition of your contribution to humanitarian service is an honour of the country." Prime Minister Dahal also expressed his commitment to providing all other necessary support from the government for eye treatment. During the meeting, Dr Ruit said that Nepal has done some exemplary work in the field of eye treatment and shared about the possibility of producing medicine for cataract treatment in the country.
