Smartphones in 2017: What We Can Expect

A A- A+
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]2016 was an interesting year for smartphone enthusiasts. The year saw a lot of noteworthy handsets. To be honest, 2016 could be called the year of mid-rangers. There were some flagships, but the market was dominated globally and also in Nepal, by mid-rangers like Samsung J7, Xiaomi Redmi Note3 and Motorola Moto G4. Some of the remarkable flagships of 2016 were Apple iPhone 7, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S7. Samsung Note 7 was in the headlines too; well, for all the wrong reasons. Global market saw the launch of almost bezel-less handset Xiaomi Mi Mix. OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T were the strongest contenders in 2016. A lot of new Chinese companies made their way into the Nepali market in 2016, giving customers numerous choices. 2016 also saw a lot of new trends, with smartphones having 6 GB RAM for the first time and handsets having dual camera modules. 2 GB can now be considered the minimum RAM for good handsets, and FHD resolution has become very common. All in all, the standard for smartphones improved significantly and we can say 2016 was a good year for smartphone manufacturers and customers as well. So what can we look forward in 2017? Below are a few smartphones that will be launched in 2017. A few of them will make their way into Nepal, while others remain a possibility. Let’s see what 2017 has to offer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=".vc_custom_1485245462626{margin-top: 20px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f9f9f9 !important;}"][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="bottom-to-top"]

Samsung Galaxy S8

Galaxy-S-8This will be a very crucial launch for Samsung. Samsung needs to offer a lot from this device if it wants to redeem itself from the Note 7 fiasco. Though not much is known about the device right now, it will be launched globally around mid-2017. Samsung had announced earlier this year that the Galaxy S8 will feature a new digital assistant powered by artificial intelligence startup Viv. We can expect a handset with lesser bezels and 2K display, latest Snapdragon processor and 6 GB RAM as it is becoming the trend now for flagships. This phone will definitely be available in Nepal in 2017.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=".vc_custom_1485245462626{margin-top: 20px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f9f9f9 !important;}"][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="bottom-to-top"]

Apple iPhone 8

Apple will be launching the new iPhone sometime in 2017. As the year 2017 marks iPhone’s tenth anniversary, we can expect something new and refreshing. There are rumours that the new iPhone will have an all-glass body, organic LED display and no home button. These are just speculations and nothing can be said for sure now. But this device too will make its way to Nepal in the new year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=".vc_custom_1485245462626{margin-top: 20px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f9f9f9 !important;}"][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="bottom-to-top"]

The Return of Nokia

This is very good news for Nokia lovers. Nokia had announced earlier this year that it will launch two Android phones in early 2017. One of these two handsets will be a flagship and the other one a mid-ranger. Rumour has it that the flagship handset will pack in Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 835 CPU and 6 GB RAM. The other handset will also feature the Snapdragon 835, but with 4GB RAM. Carl Zeiss imaging is expected to return on the handsets.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=".vc_custom_1485245462626{margin-top: 20px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f9f9f9 !important;}"][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="bottom-to-top"]

HTC 11

HTC is expected to launch the successor of HTC 10 launched this year, with better upgrades obviously. If online rumours are to be believed, HTC 11 will have a Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a higher-capacity battery with Quick Charge 4.0 and a 5.5 inch QHD screen.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=".vc_custom_1485246085741{margin-top: 20px !important;margin-bottom: 20px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f9f9f9 !important;}"][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="bottom-to-top"]

OnePlus 4

OnePlus recently launched OnePlus 3T, an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3 with a better processor, bigger battery and a new front camera. OnePlus will be releasing OnePlus 4 by mid-2017 which is expected to come with Snapdragon 835, a 5.5 inch QHD display, probably 8GB of RAM, a 23 MP camera and bigger battery with Dash Charge. There is an interesting rumour online that the company may call their new phone OnePlus 5 instead of OnePlus 4 as 4 is considered an unlucky number in China. Only time will tell the truth1pkus-4 Moreover, there will definitely be new launches from players like Sony, LG, Motorola and others. Nepali market will be flooded with new products from Gionee, Micromax, Colors and Xiaomi among others brands. All great news for smartphone lovers with 2017 promising to be an exciting year as well.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
