200 new cases Sunday take nationwide Covid 19 tally to 822,592

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 200 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 822,592. Additionally, five persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded one death from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,541. Presently, there are 6,507 active cases in Nepal. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 103 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 63 new cases, Lalitpur logged 34 cases and Bhaktapur logged 6 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 436 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, a total of 804,544 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.8 per cent while the case fatality rate is at 1.4 per cent. Earlier, the MoHP on Saturday had reported 220 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 822,392. As of Sunday, a total of 4,662,680 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 6,507 persons staying in isolation while 97 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. More than 264.917 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.546 million people have died from Covid 19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
