Donate Blood App wins College Idea Hunt

The finale of Idea Studio Nepal’s College Idea Hunt concluded in an event held at Rastriya Nachghar on 27 June. A total of 10 finalists were chosen to present their idea in front of packed audience at the venue.

The contestants were judged by Prof. Dr. Bijay KC, Dean of Kathmandu University School of Management, Charu Chadha, Editor of Business 360 and Sanjib Subba, CEO of National Banking Institute.

Avash Karmacharya from Himalayan College of Engineering won the competition and a cash prize of Rs 150,000 with his idea of Donate Blood app,  Sanjay Gurung from Prime College won the second prize with cash prize of Rs 100,000 for his idea of Visual Effect Studio, and Nitesh Pandey and Abin Neupane from Everest College came in third winning a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for Eco-San, an idea for portable public toilets. The top three get direct entry into the upcoming Idea Studio Season 3 for which the audition date opens from 01 to 31 July.

The event had an interesting panel of speakers that included Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University; Sixit Bhatta, Co-Founder and CEO of Tootle; Aayushi KC, Founder and CEO of Khaalisisi; Suresh Rajan, System Design and Management graduate from MIT; Jacqueline Xu, Masters of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science graduate from MIT.

metrotarkari.com and Sajilo Marmat Sewa presented their entrepreneurial journey as former participants of Idea Studio.

Dr. Mahabir Pun, Founder of National Innovation Centre was the keynote speaker. He shared, “I am no keynote speaker or motivator. I am a challenger and I am here to challenge all the young people to be more innovative. I want to make a prosperous Nepal by using the talent of young people towards developing the economy of the country.”

The event also saw collaboration between Idea Studio Nepal and National Innovation Centre with an signing of MoU between Dr Tshering Lama and Dr Mahabir Pun.
