Dr Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award goes to Khanal this year

KATHMANDU: Dr Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award will be presented to journalist Bijay Raj Khanal this year. The economic journalism award was established in memory of late Dr Harihar Dev Pant, a pioneer and 'Founding Father' of microfinance in Nepal. He was the first promoter of microfinance and was dedicated to economic development and poverty alleviation. The award established by Harihar Dev Pant Foundation will be given to Khanal, a senior correspondent of setopati.com, on September 6 coinciding with the seventh annual memorial day of Pant. The foundation has been giving the award to one of the best economic journalists or an association or organisation every year. Previously, the economic journalism award was given to the Society of Economic Journalists-Nepal (SEJON), Gokarna Awasthi of Kantipur Daily and Bishnu Belbase of Nagarik Daily, Eliza Upreti, senior business correspondent of ratopati.com and Mamta Thapa, correspondent of Annapurna Daily. respectively. For the all-round development of the country and economic sector, the fourth organ of the state, journalism, has played an important role in keeping the general public informed through various newspapers, radio, television, online news and writing. The foundation picked Khanal who has been writing in the economic sector for more than a decade. Khanal will be honoured with a letter of honour along with Rs 50,000 cash. READ ALSO:
