Finance Minister Mahat points out contribution of public colleges

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat has pointed out the contribution of public colleges in the education sector.

Addressing the 33rd anniversary of the Public Youth Campus, the finance minister said, "With the increasing importance of public colleges, their number has surged across the country." Recognising their contribution, Minister Mahat said the government will provide subsidies to the needy public campuses to manage funds. He mentioned that public campuses, Tribhuvan University and private colleges have had a big challenge to attract students, and this is due to the tendency of students to go to foreign countries for higher education, he called for reversing this tendency.
