KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Supplies (FNCCI) on Wednesday concluded the 'Job Fair 2023' organised at its secretariat in Teku, Kathmandu.
The federation said the two-day job fair has helped connect youths with FNCCI.
The fair was organised with the support of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and the International Labour Organization and technical assistance from the Employment Service Centre and Merojob.
The fair was held in cooperation with Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Bhaktapur Municipality, Federation members — Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
As many as 54 reputed companies participating in the fair opened up about 600 job opportunities. The companies suggested that FNNCI should organise such programmes regularly.
FNCCI has estimated that around 10% of the visitors found jobs through the fair. More than 2,000 youths had registered for visiting the fair where high-ranking government officials, representatives of various training centres, students, businesspersons, entrepreneurs and media workers made their presence.
Visitors shared that they were relieved from having to wander around in search of jobs and spending time and money on that.
FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal inaugurated the fair organised under the chairmanship of FNCCI's Commodity Council Chairperson Hem Raj Dhakal.
FNCCI Treasurer Nirak KC presented letters of appreciation to the participating companies at the closing ceremony of the fair.
KC said the job fair has greatly helped the youths who were searching for jobs. He also informed that such programmes will be held in the future.
He thanked the government, ILO, Merojob, Employment Service Centre, participating companies, and member associations for their support in organising the fair.
The Job fair was held with the objective of taking the initiative to provide job opportunities to the youths who were searching for jobs and creating an environment for them to work in the country by identifying their skills.
Companies related to information technology, management, education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, services, tourism and other sectors participated in the fair.
IME Motors, Golcha Organisation, Laxmi Group, Panchkanya Group, Chaudhary Group, Sugam Group, UNFPA, Varun Beverages, Daraz, Singha Group, The Nepal Distilleries, Rojgari.com, City Aged Care Training Centre and Research Centre, Kathmandu World School, Codesvatar, Leapfrog Technology, MITL, Bhurilo, Hitachi Energy among others participated in the job fair.
