FNCCI delegation meets newly appointed Industry Minister Rijal

KATHMANDU: A delegation of officials from the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) held a meeting with the newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Ramesh Rijal, at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, on Monday. Rijal was appointed as Industry Minister on Friday. On the occasion, FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha said that since the economy is in crisis, the industry businesses are also facing problems, and suggested that the ministry should take concrete steps to solve the current crisis. Further, he suggested that the interest rate should be reduced by increasing the liquidity flow and also using other instruments. Golchha mentioned that the enterprise business is running at less than half capacity since there is no demand in the market. Likewise, FNCCI Senior Vice President Chandra Prasad Dhakal suggested that the government should work to increase investment in the market and create an environment of trust in the private sector by using all available instruments. In the meeting with the newly appointed Industry Minister, FNCCI President Golchha suggested that the government should hold a conference with donors to bring in foreign investment. He emphasized that the laws related to loans should be brought as soon as possible citing that the problem of borrowing in the market is becoming serious. He urged Minister Rijal to immediately pass the much-awaited startup policy which the FNCCI has already prepared after incorporating suggestions from all agencies. Similarly, FNCCI's Startup and Innovation Committee Chairperson Ranjit Raj Acharya opined that the startup policy was necessary for the effective implementation of the Startup Loan Procedure which has been issued recently. The FNCCI delegation urged the Industry Minister to help in taking forward the agreement between the FNCCI and the Industry Ministry regarding the implementation of National Economic Transformation (NET) 2030, the vision paper of the federation. Responding to the delegation of private sector, Minister Rijal assured that he will regularly hold dialogue and closely work with the private sector to implement the suggestions made by FNCCI. He committed to passing the startup policy after consultation with stakeholders. Industry Minister Rijal pledged his support to encourage the businesspersons. READ ALSO:
