FNCCI expresses condolences to bereaved family of Acharya

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed deep sorrow at the self-immolation of Prem Prasad Acharya, an entrepreneur from Ilam district. Acharya self-immolated in Kathmandu due to financial problems, on Tuesday. He died while receiving treatment, on Wednesday morning. The federation has expressed its condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased Acharya. In a press statement, FNCCI lamented that micro, cottage, small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) have been hurt due to problems created by liquidity crunch, unstable interest rates, problems in getting loans, lack of market, lack of technology, unclear policy and neglect of government agencies. FNCCI stated that it has been continuously lobbying the government, Nepal Rastra Bank and other stakeholders to address issues such as interest rate stability, loan-related law, business loan insurance, procedural facilitation, easy access to finance, expansion of market access, and argued that tragic incidents are increasing since such demands go unheard. In this perspective, the private sector's organisation has urged the government, central bank and other stakeholders to immediately address the problems being faced by micro, cottage and SMEs, and create an environment conducive to operating businesses safely. The organisation said it has established a help centre to support SMEs. It also preparing to collect complaints through its website and submit them to the relevant authorities. The federation has also established a conciliation centre to resolve commercial disputes. Meanwhile, FNCCI has urged all entrepreneurs who are members and even those who are not members to inform about their problems. The Federation has expressed its commitment to doing its best to solve the problems. READ ALSO:
