FNCCI, KOSME to cooperate in SMEs, startups

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha and KOSME Vice President Moon Hwan Kim signed the MoU amid a program conducted through a virtual medium, on Friday. The main objective of the MoU is to develop initiatives in policy reform, exchange of expertise and information and increase economic and business cooperation for the development of competitiveness of SMEs of both Nepal and Korea in the international market. It is believed that developing SMEs in a timely manner will help in the socio-economic development of the people of both countries. Emphasis will be laid on opportunities and feasibility study of SMEs and startups, study visits, establishment of incubation centre, attraction of technology and investment, capacity development of small and medium entrepreneurs and startups to work on policy reforms. Addressing the MoU signing programme, FNCCI President Golchha expressed confidence that the partnership would lay an important foundation for the development of SMEs and startups. On behalf of FNCCI, he also expressed his commitment to implementing the agreement. Golchha informed that the FNCCI has started 50 startups 50 investor programme. He also urged Korean investors to invest in startups and SMEs in Nepal. On the occasion, KOSME Vice President Moon expressed his happiness to work with FNCCI. He expressed his commitment to share the experience gained by Korea in SMEs and startups and work closely with the federation in cooperation. Present on the occasion were FNCCI Senior Vice President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Vice President Dinesh Shrestha, Treasurer Sukuntalal Hirachan, President of Nepal-Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kiran Prakash Shakh.
