General Manager at the airport. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has permitted the operation of the airport.
With the operation of two international airports, Nepal has now an option and is no longer compelled to divert incoming international aircraft elsewhere in case of landing problems, said the General Manager at Tribhuvan International Airport, Prem Nath Thakur.
The runway of the airport is 45 metres in width and 3,000 metres in length. It is expected to relieve the pressure on flights at the TIA in Kathmandu.
