Government offers additional reprieve to hotels, restaurants

A A- A+
The government has decided to give additional respite to hotels and restaurants, one of the sectors most affected by the Coronavirus. It has been decided to give electricity demand fee exemption to hotels and restaurants that are registered at the Department of Industry. The license of such hotels and restaurants must have been renewed regularly and they should have submitted tax returns. The government has decided to waive 100% demand fee of such hotels and restaurants for the lockdown period. It has also decided to give 50% discount on electricity demand fee to them from mid-October when the lockdown was lifted. The decision was taken on March 18 and made public on March 21.
