Government opens application for Prime Minister Employment Programme

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has opened applications for the Prime Minister Employment Programme for the fiscal year 2022/23. Unemployed persons can submit the applications at the Employment Service Centre of ward office or local level their permanent residence belong to. The deadline for applications is March 14. People aged between 18 to 59 years can apply for the programme that aims to provide work opportunities to the unemployed. One who is not involved in the minimum of a 100-day employment programme in the current fiscal year 2021/22 can apply for the employment programme. Likewise, in the case of people who are self-employed, one who has generated an income of less than Rs 57,700 in the current fiscal year are eligible to apply for the employment programme. The ward office will investigate and verify the details of the applicants. The local directive committee would further investigate and recommend the name of unemployed persons from the applications received by the rural municipal or municipal executive body for the final list. The executive body has been given the right to rectify and approve the list of unemployed persons. The final list of unemployed persons will be prepared only after the local level includes the particulars and other details of unemployed persons on a priority basis in the employment management information system of the Prime Minister Employment Programme. The listed unemployed persons will be provided employment opportunities in road construction, agriculture, irrigation, rural water supply, health, sanitation, education, forest and tourism and other labour-centric projects.
