Govt to receive grant of Rs 1.37bn for drinking water project

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to accept grant of Rs 1.37 billion for the Sustainable WASH for All project. At a press conference organised at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on Tuesday to disclose the decisions of the cabinet meeting held on July 25, Communication Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki shared that the government has decided to accept €10.5 million from the European Union for the drinking water project. The government has also decided to accept grants equivalent to Rs 950 million from the Swiss government for the implementation of quality technical and vocational education and training projects in the first phase. Also, the government has decided to extend the renewal of the industries which are constructing their physical structures. The cabinet decided to extend the renewal of the industries by receiving late fines on the basis of their working nature. Likewise, the government decided to form a high-level study and recommendation committee headed by the National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chairman to furnish recommendations on immediate measures to be taken on import management and reduction. The government has decided to appoint actor Bhuwan KC as the Chairperson of the Film Development Board. Likewise, the cabinet decided to appoint Dr Prakash Raj Regmi and Dr Nabin Chandra Gautam as members of Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre. It was decided to entrust the Vice-Chancellor of the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences to serve as a member of National Public Health Committee. On queries of journalists during the conference, Minister Karki shared that the Election Commission had recommended November 18 for the election to the members of House of Representatives and Province Assembly. The government is making necessary preparation to announce election dates accordingly, the minister shared. READ ALSO:
