Nepal's first-ever Hard Rock Cafe opened in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Hard Rock Cafe Kathmandu has been set up at Sherpa Mall, in Durbar Marg. Along with memorabilia from some of the music industry's biggest names, amongst them Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Metallica, the Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson, Hard Rock Cafe features a US-inspired menu and hand-crafted cocktails. Sited on the first and top floor of the building, the restaurant can take up to 260 covers indoors as well as on an outdoor terrace, looking over the roofs of Durbar Marg. The highlights of the menu are the burgers for which Hard Rock Cafe is famous. The menu includes the legendary burger with its proprietary blend of buffalo meat, with cheddar cheese, crispy onion ring, lettuce leaf and vine-ripened tomato, served with Hard Rock signature steak sauce. Elsewhere on the menu, salads come with grilled, fresh, free-range chicken or California-style cobb – chicken with roasted corn, black beans and imported cheddar cheese, while sandwiches include barbecue pulled chicken or grilled honey mustard chicken all served with seasoned or cheese fries. One of the stars of the menu is the baby back pork ribs, specifically imported from Denmark for Hard Rock Cafe Kathmandu. Ribs (750g) seasoned with a signature spice blend, then glazed with house-made barbecue sauce and grilled to perfection are served with seasoned fries, coleslaw and ranch-style beans. Along with a selection of bottled beers and wines, a range of 'boozy milkshakes and signature cocktails including Hurricane - a 1940s New Orleans classic comprised of white rum, a blend of orange, mango, pineapple juice and grenadine, finished with a float dark rum and amaretto are available in the cafe opened on October 28. For those keen to snap up a memento of their visit, there is a Hard Rock - Rock Shop selling themed merchandise. Hard Rock Cafe Kathmandu has a plan to initially promote local musical talent with live music seven nights a week and an acoustic brunch every Saturday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Hard Rock Cafe Kathmandu opens at 11:30 am daily and remains open till 2:00 am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The cafe is scheduled to close at midnight from Sunday to Wednesday. The Hard Rock - Rock Shop opens from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm daily.
